1. LIBRARY FACILITIES

The Library is managed with the following Sections from the point of view of its collections and services provided to the users.

ACQUISITION SECTION

In order to acquire all sorts of reading and research materials, there is an Acquisition Section which acquires different type of reading materials and collects them for the use of the readers. In order to provide these reading materials to the users for use, the acquisition section after accessioning the reading materials sends these items to the Technical Section for further processing At present there are 1,66,087 books in the collection of the Central Library including back volumes of journals and Doctoral dissertations. Development of good collection material through E-books and E-journals.

2. TECHNICAL SECTION

There is a Technical Section for technical processing of all the reading materials acquired, where they are classified and catalogued before they are sent to circulation section to make them available to the library users to be used by the readers.

3. CIRCULATION SECTION

There is a section called Circulation Section to deal with the borrowing needs of the users efficiently. This section manages the 3 huge stacks, arrangement of reading materials, issue return of books, reminders to the delayed books, reservation of books and other borrowing related problems of the users

4. PERIODICAL SECTION

There is a well-equipped periodical section for meeting out the information needs of research scholars and the different users. In this Section all the current periodicals are displayed properly and back volumes are maintained in systematic order. Under INFONET program of UGC, Electronic journal of seven well-known publishers like Springier Link, Economic & political Weekly, IOP, oxford university press, Taylor & Francis, ISID, JCCC available for the users of this library besides this library is receiving 150 journals in gift of various disciplines.

5. REFERENCE SECTION

In this section, doctoral dissertations, approved by this University, are maintained properly, and are available for consultation of the research scholars / teachers of the University and affiliated Colleges. This section also maintains other reference tools required for research purpose. This library is working on the line seriously to digitalised Ph.D. Thesis and old bound volumes of the journals

6. REPROGRAPHIC SECTION

To provide Reprographic services, there is a Photocopier section, which has a photocopying machine to provide zerox copies of the document to the users at nominal charges.

7. INFLIBNET & COMPUTERIZATION

In order to augment library resources under the of INFLIBNET programme:

Project of UGC computerization of the whole collection of books, journals and doctoral dissertations is being done and a database of 1,50,800 (approx.) documents have been built up which has already been sent to INFLIBNET, out of which approx. 96,000 unique titles of books and 3600 doctoral dissertations has been included in the Union database managed by INFLIBNET.

8. PUBLIC LIBRARY FACILITIES

The Central Library of University provides its services to all sections of the society including affiliated institutes and colleges. Library is open to all and this facility has been extended from 1998 and anybody from society can become a regular member of this library.

9. DEPARTMENTAL LIBRARY

Besides the Central Library there are many departmental / Institutional libraries equipped with latest books and journals and have separate budget allocation.
